Mt. Washington Valley Health CSI Camp

July 11 - July 15, 2011

Based at Memorial Hospital. Students will become CPR certified, learn how to take blood pressures, tympanograms, litter a patient, draw blood, suture, and more! They will get a cast at the hospital, visit SOLO and other health agencies, see acupuncture, and experience the life of a health professional with their stethoscope and scrubs. Partners include our primary sponsor and funder: The Memorial Hospital, along with the following agencies: White Mountain Community College, North Conway Ambulance Services, Saco River Medical Group, SOLO Wilderness Medicine, Mineral Springs Care and Rehabilitation Center, White Mountain Community Health Center, White Mountain Community College and Conway Village Fire Department.

The Mt. Washington Valley School to Career Partnership/Memorial Hospital week-long summer program is designed to introduce local youth to the wide variety of health care career opportunities available to them as they get older. Run on a day-camp model, students will participate in hands-on activities and projects related to health care and associated businesses. Students visit local businesses to see what health care professionals day to day activities include. The health camp is a school approved 5 day enrichment program. Students are supervised in a 1:6 counselor camper ratio with at least 10 local agencies and businesses who have partnered together to provide activities for the week.

The week-long program costs $90 with limited scholarships available based on a sliding-fee scale. Lunch, refreshments, snacks and transportation from Memorial Hospital is included.

Students selected for participation will be informed in writing. Campers and a parent/guardian are requested to come to a short orientation on June 6th 2011 at 6:00 pm.
