Manager of Imaging Services: Sherry Cormier, RT(R)

Memorial Hospital is at the forefront in digital imaging. The procedures performed in our department are filmless. All images from radiology are stored and read on PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications Systems). We were the first small hospital in New England to use digital technology, and we are the only hospital in the region with all the major diagnostic imaging services accredited by the American College of Radiology.

Services include:

  • X-Ray
  • 64-Slice CT Scans (ACR accredited) that emit up to 40% less radiation per scan (learn more)
  • Digital Mammography (FDA approved; ACR accredited)
  • Ultrasound(ACR accredited)
  • Bone Density Testing
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • Fluoroscopy
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ACR accredited)
  • Echocardiograms including Stress Echos

Our advanced technology allows us to immediately route an image to the hospital's Emergency Department, a doctor's office on campus, or send it electronically to a consulting physician at a major medical center provided they have access to our PACS system.

With the added networking advantages that our imaging technology provides, we offer patients better diagnostic tools that ultimately improve the quality and speed of appropriate medical care.

The new warmer, softer mammogram

Memorial Hospital is certified as a Softer Mammogram Provider, which means we provide a soft foam cushion called a MammoPad for each woman's personal use during every screening mammogram.

The MammoPad was designed for women by a female breast surgeon. It is FDA-cleared, does not impair image quality, and makes it easier for you to be relaxed, warm and comfortable during your exam. This helps our skilled mammography technologists achieve the best possible mammogram.

About Ultrasound

Memorial Hospital's ultrasound system offers cutting edge diagnostic imaging that streamlines ultrasound exams for patients and clinicians.

The system’s powerful imaging capabilities are used for a variety of typical exams, including vascular, abdominal, thyroid, carotid and testicular exams. It also offers advanced imaging specifically beneficial in the evaluation of breast masses.

The system also features 4D (or real-time 3D) imaging technology that allows patients to view their fetus if they were being held in one’s hands.

Regular appointments are scheduled Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:00pm All patients receive complementary DVDs for Fetal Surveys. CDs of an exam are available upon request. No pre-certifications are required by insurance companies for ultrasound, but a written referral from a medical provider is needed.
