Dr. Susan Ruka Named Employee of the Year

Dr. Susan Ruka, Vice President for Geriatric and Professional Services at Memorial Hospital, was named the 2010 Employee of the Year at the hospital’s annual employee recognition banquet.

Sue was nominated by her peers for this award, who cited her enthusiastic support of Memorial’s mission in every role she has undertaken during her nearly 26 year career at the hospital.

In presenting the award, Memorial CEO Scott McKinnon noted, “Not only has Sue been devoted to making the hospital the best it can be, she has also devoted herself to further education, giving her the tools necessary to excel in leadership.  She has led Merriman House in achieving its fine reputation as a model facility providing outstanding long-term care.  Meanwhile, she has supported countless staff members in furthering their own education, offering them flexibility in their work schedules while attending school.  She is an outstanding example of the attributes we look for in our Employee of the Year.”
