Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of Joel Chretien to its orthopedic staff. Chretien is a board certified Physician Assistant that is fully licensed in the state of New Hampshire. He attended the University of New Engla
nd’s Physician Assistant program and graduated in 2009.
Chretien began his academic career at Clark University in Worcester, MA where he worked as a student athletic trainer. From Clark he continued studying athletic training at the University of Maine where he served as head student athletic trainer for the men’s basketball, football and baseball teams. Chretien became a Certified Athletic Trainer in 1997 and started his professional career in high school athletics working in two schools in Maine as well as Molokai High School on the island of Molokai, Hawaii. In 1999 he transitioned out of sports and started working in the clinical setting with patients suffering from work injuries and chronic pain. This was a unique clinical setting which utilized the athletic training model for “occupational” athletes. In 2002 he took this experience and opened a business specializing in Functional Capacity Assessments which determine a person’s safe physical abilities. He ran this business for 5 years before deciding to return to school in 2007 at the University of New England.
Chretien joins the current orthopedic team of Dr. Lisa Khoury MD, Dr. Douglas Taylor MD and Julia Rose, PA-C.
