NORTH CONWAY – Memorial Hospital has invested in an advanced diagnostic system to help physicians reach confident diagnoses and provide a higher level of patient care. According to Amy Landry, VP of Operations at Memorial Hospital, the new LightSpeed® VCT XTe from GE Healthcare enables the lowering of radiation dose while maintaining high quality images throughout the body.
"The addition of the GE Healthcare LightSpeed VCT XTe compliments and extends the range of quality diagnostic services that Memorial Hospital offers the community". Landry says. "It provides us a higher level of diagnostic confidence at significantly lower radiation dose with the new ASiR™ technology."
"When a CT examination is medically required, the new technology allows us to provide high quality diagnostic exams with much less radiation exposure. Memorial Hospital has always been concerned about the safety of patients as it relates to dose and now we can offer this new technology that will benefit both the patients and the providers who care for them", says Ray VanWyngarden, DO, Radiologist at Memorial Hospital.
ASiR (Adaptive Statistical Iterative Reconstruction) is a new, advanced image reconstruction technique that makes it possible to dramatically reduce radiation dose to patients up to 40 percent without compromising the quality of the image. "This is especially beneficial for children and young adults who are more susceptible to harm from excessive radiation exposures," VanWyngarden says.
"This technology is state-of-the-art that many large city hospitals do not have access to", says Memorial Hospital CEO, Scott McKinnon. "The investment into this CT technology is just one way Memorial Hospital is committed to quality, compassionate, and comprehensive health care."
